livorno state of mind! il mercato centrale

Inspired by Emilo Davies' post I have decided to visit my city Livorno as a tourist ;-) And this morning I have visited our "Mercato Centrale" (the central market), in the very heart of the city. It was projected by the architect Angiolo Badaloni at the and of the XIX century.

Walking through fishes, bread, fruit and meat gives you in this big and luminous enviroment gives you the idea of how rich is the food culture in the city. Let's begin the tour!

Well it is Italy's 150 anniversary!

roof and light!

one of the entrances!

The ham corner!

direction....eggs!

ready for a cacciucco? ;-)

A mussel-cleaning machine! Want to see it!

Anchovies!

The name of the architect and the crest of Livorno!

Well just have a look around! And take the occasion to enjoy a good glass of wine and a "panino" at "La Barrocciaia"

  1. I love Livorno! :) Sai che io lavoravo proprio vicino al Mercato? Mi manca quella città, quest'estate ci sono tornato troppo poco. Comunque complimenti, sei davvero poliglotta! Fish
